FAQ

Common questions

I haven't filed US taxes in years — am I in trouble?
Possibly not — the IRS Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures exist precisely for non-willful expat non-filers, and catching up correctly usually resolves the situation cleanly. The key word is correctly. Start with a consultation.
Do I need to file FBAR if my accounts are in the UAE?
If the combined value of your foreign accounts exceeded $10,000 at any point in the year, yes — and FBAR penalties for non-filing are severe. It's a separate filing from your tax return.
Will I owe US tax on my Dubai salary?
Often not — the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion and foreign tax credits eliminate US tax for many expats. But the return must still be filed to claim them. Owing nothing and filing nothing are very different positions.

Worldwide income. One clean filing.
